Lake Piano had once joined to the Lake Lugano.
The alluvial deposit of the river Cuccio and streams descending from the slopes of Monte Galbiga caused the separation of the two lakes.
In 1984 Lake Piano became Natural Reserve.
A trip to Lake Piano allows us to discover the origins, the animals and their habitat.
The fauna that inhabits the waters of the lake and its surroundings consists of several species of fishes, birds and mammals.
The banks of the lake are occupied by reeds and forests of Monte Galbiga.
