In the Atlantic Code of Leonardo da Vinci describes the bubbling source of Fiumelatte.

Not far from Varenna, the shortest river in Italy, from March to October, it flows from the rock throwing himself impetuously in Lake Como creating an effective milky color.

It is a temporary stream beacause it appears quickly towards the end of March and then disappears in the mounth of October.

The village has a long tradition of fish farming.

The fish hatchery in Fiumelatte is a fish culture center, one of the largest in Europe.
