The Caprese salad is more than just an appetizer — it’s a symbol of Italian summer. Originating from Capri, this simple dish brings together the best of Mediterranean ingredients: ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, oregano, and basil leaves.
Legend has it that the recipe was first served in 1920 during a dinner hosted for the poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, founder of the Futurist movement. Since then, it has become a beloved dish around the world — thanks to its flavor, colors, and simplicity.
