Hiking in Tremezzina: the trails that start here

The first waymarked mountain trail begins about a hundred metres from the residence. Above Mezzegra the mountain rises straight away: two kilometres take you from the village at 277 metres to the high meadows at 990, with the lake opening up behind you at every turn. These are shoulder-season walks. In spring and autumn the air is clear and the paths are empty.

Walks and hikes we recommend

Beyond the waymarked trails above, these are the routes we recommend to our guests in person. Some begin a short walk from the residence; others are day trips reached by car or by boat. Difficulty and length vary widely, so ask us at check-in and we will tell you which ones suit you and how they are that week. Where you see a length and elevation, the route is mapped and measured; for the others we have no reliable track, and we would rather not invent numbers.

Map of the recommended walks

Before you set out

The lengths and elevations on this page are computed from the routes mapped in OpenStreetMap and from the 25-metre European elevation model. They are measurements, not a guidebook: they do not tell you how long a walk takes, or whether a trail suits you.

Walking time depends on your pace, your pack, the season and the state of the ground. Signs on the trail and CAI information always take precedence over this page.

Mountain weather changes quickly and some sections hold snow well into spring. Ask us at check-in: we will tell you how things stand that week.

Sleep where the trail begins

The apartments are a few steps from the start of trail 886, with free parking on site and a kitchen, so you can come back and cook without looking for a restaurant.
