Free parking, under CCTV

A tree-lined drive leading to the entrance of a house

On Lake Como parking is the first practical problem of a holiday. Here it is not: you arrive, you leave the car inside the property, and for the rest of the stay you can do without it.

Parking is inside the property

Every apartment has parking within the property, free of charge and in a CCTV-monitored area. It is not assigned to a specific apartment: you park in the property’s own spaces, without hunting for a place on the road and without paying anything.

The difference shows in high season, when finding a free space along the main road becomes a small feat and the paid car parks in the villages fill up by mid-morning.

No restricted-traffic zone on the way in

The road that leads to the apartments has no restricted-traffic zone. You drive right up to the property without risking the fine that catches out so many visitors in the old centres around the lake.

Traffic restrictions do exist elsewhere, in Como, Bellagio and Varenna in particular. That is a day-trip matter, not an arrival one: two different things worth keeping apart before you set off.

Once you are here, the car can stay put

The village works on foot: the bakery is 670 metres away, the shop 736, the Lenno ferry landing just under a kilometre. These are real walking distances, not straight lines on a map.

From there the boat takes you to Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio without getting behind the wheel. Some guests never touch the car all week, and those who use it for day trips find it where they left it.
